      remember, you are working from design elevations which is not associated with current ground elevations when the work is being done. work from print elevations and benchmarks. hope this answered your questions

    It is not mentioned that the distance 1.27 is it horizontal distance or the distance with slope, as we are talking about slop , the slope is a resultant of division of vertical and real horizontal diastase with no slope in order to get the slop itself . I wish I can get an answer to my view . Thank you

    • @tkraper1
      @tkraper1 9 месяцев назад

      The distance is the distance from the inside wall of one structure to the other structure. It is not the length of pipe, but the measured distance between the two structures. You could calculate the length of pipe using the pythagorean theorem; a2 + b2 = c2, where a is the height and b is the distance between the two structures. Then solving for c would give you the length of the pipe.

      I am assuming that you are asking if you are laying uphill vs downhill. For ease of calculation always subtract the lowest elevation from the highest elevation this will give you a positive value. Then complete the calculation. If you are laying downhill the laser setting is negative, if you are laying uphill the laser setting is positive. Hope this answered your question.

    Can you use this same formula using length in feet and using height in inches? I don't have a pipe laser I have a rotary laser. So I would take a shot of my low point and a shot of my high point, measure the difference in height in inches and then measure the length in between. What I am usually doing is replacing storm pipe that is rotted with new sdr or n-12 pipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to know if I can set the percentage correctly on a RL-SV2S Rotating Laser. Thanks anyone

    • @danielvivas7488
      @danielvivas7488 Год назад

      Yes, you are able to use wherever laser you got available at the moment or even a streamline... the key is to use the math correctly. With the percentage of slope, you can multiply the length of 2 pipes for example (40 ft) by the % slope, the result is the height where the pipe has to settle down at 40 feet (2 lengts). So, what it rest is place your rotary laser in the structure opening (invert position of the pipe) and then make sure that your laser dot is pointed out at the same height you previously calculated. 3 important things: remember that your laser has a height you need to consider, and also remember you need to be exact positioned at 2 pipes lengths when settle your laser. For last, consider if you're down or up to hill. But is easier and quicker always works with the right tools... I could say this is a way to resolve for while if youre pipe laser has broken or running out of batteries and your are far away from any civilization hahahahaha.

    Thank you Sir, very very helpful. I'm in collage studding and I have to wait 1 year for the classes I need for utilities. The company is offering me a supervisor job, but need to know how to do it right. Is there any way you can do an example from beginning to the end, using the automatic level and having the data from the blueprints of heights (levels). I want to know how to lay a standard precast manhole section. I get lost with all the heights on the blue prints and the supervisor will not tell me how. The company is willing to put me with a group but, the supervisor will not show me how, he feels that I want to take his job, even knowing the boss tolled him to show me how.
